Gianmaria Buccellati Jewels, a memory…
Throwback to a showing of jewels by Gianmaria Buccellati ! I dug this experience out from my 2017 pictures of the Summer in Italy.
Imagine my surprise as I was casually walking around with my family, exploring Venice when we suddenly found ourselves in front of this large sign waving in the wind, of GianMaria Buccellati’s jewel show.
Of course I had to take a picture of the moment;) It was an unexpected gift:)
Well, It felt like I had struck gold. I had to see everything! And now.
Of course I was with my family and couldn’t drop everything and spontaneously explore the showing. So I waited patiently. We did what we had planned for the day and as the following day dawned, we went to admire the work of the renowned jeweler.
What I’m sharing with you are a few of what struck me the most. Not only jewelry but also a gem encrusted cup.
So lets talk a bit about the basics of the creator. He was born in Milan on the 21st May, in1929. At age sixteen he joined the family business and started working with his father.
He took over the creativity and production after the death of his father, while his brother developed the business in America.
Expansion came easily. Gianmaria Buccellati quickly became one of the most renowned names among the International high end jewelry industry. He was also the Founder and President of the Italian Gemmological Institute and played an active role in promoting Italian enterprises and culture.
His master works have been shown in prestigious museums around the world.
Gianmaria’s own sons remain active in the business. Most interestingly of all is in 2014 Lucrezia Buccellati, Gianmaria’s grand daughter, joined as the 1st female designer of the house !
She works closely with her father Andrea who is the eldest son of Gianmaria and the President of the company as well as the Creative Director.
As time moves us all on, I wonder what fresh ‘newness’ might come in the future…
Thank you, Gianmaria Buccellati for your vision, imagination and exceptional skill!
