Truly – Of Imaginations and Dreams, Lydia Courteille’s creations are fantastical and whimsical!
Yet what struck me most was her story about Science being her true passion. She has a double degree in Haematology and she was in the world of Science for ten whole years before she delved into the world of jewelry. An unusual turn of events, don’t you think? This *has* to give her a different sort of edge to her ideas and designs!
She was born as Lilliane Schoonjans in Paris. Lilliane embarked on her own in 1987 as an independent antique dealer. Her brand name Lydia Courtielle comes from – Lydia the name of an ancient nation ruled by Croesus, who was the last King of the Mermaid line and extremely wealthy. Courtielle was her mothers maiden name…
I’m going to stop. I won’t spoil it for you by giving away too much! Its a pleasure to read and flows beautifully from her biography to the influences, inspiration, design, and collections.
It’s a burst of color, full of drama and statement pieces. It appeals to the girl in me who loved The Far Away Tree and the Wishing Chair by Enid Blyton and Narnia – particularly The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe. And I never stopped loving them!
